Named for Delta of the Sevier River Delta is a town/city in Millard County, Utah, United States.

The name was finally changed to Delta on May 11, 1911.

The name is quite fitting as the region was a delta of Lake Bonneville . Just upstream of Delta, the Sevier River is dammed to furnish irrigation water, reservoir storage, and cooling water for IPP, Intermountain Power Project.

Agriculture is a primary economic force in Delta and the Sevier valley.

Downstream of Delta, the Sevier River is dammed again for irrigation and reservoir storage.

One of the chief sources of income for Delta is a power plant directed by the Intermountain Power Agency, known as the Intermountain Power Project or I.P.P.

This coal-powered power plant supplies power for much of Los Angeles county in California.

The facility is positioned here due to the remoteness of the area, as beryllium dust is highly toxic, and the adjacency of a large origin of power: the Intermountain Power Project.

Other minerals and rocks that are prevalent near Delta include obsidian, opal, and geodes. Historically Delta has had two elementary schools housing the grades from Kindergarten to 5th grade; Delta North Elementary and Delta South Elementary.

Delta North Elementary Delta South Elementary Delta South Elementary School is positioned at 450 South Center Street in Delta, Utah.

DSES was originally assembled in 1982 to accommodate the expansion in populace due to the assembly of the Intermountain Power Plant.

The new school was rather than in time for the 1983-84 school year and homed grades K-4.

Because of declining enrollment figures, Delta South Elementary was closed in 2009.

Delta Early Childhood Center was created using two thirds of the South Elementary building to accommodate preschool and kindergarten pupils in West Millard County.

At the end of the 2014-15 school year, the Delta region schools were reconfigured, placing all of the pupils in preschool, kindergarten, and first and second grades at Delta South Elementary School.

Currently, Delta South Elementary School employs 52 citizens serving roughly 532 pupils in pre-2nd grade.

Students come from Delta, Oak City, Lynndyl, Leamington, Hinckley, Abraham, Sutherland, Oasis, Deseret, Sugarville, and Woodrow. Delta Middle School Delta Middle School serves roughly 420 pupils in the sixth, seventh, and eight grades and is positioned in Delta, Utah.

Its pupils come from the City of Delta and a several smaller encircling communities in Millard County.

Delta High School Delta High School is a enhance school positioned in non-urban central Utah, drawing pupils from a several small outlying communities.

With a new school and a distinct pupil population, Delta High is the core of an agricultural based community. According to the 2013-2014 DHS report card Delta had 549 pupils enrolled from the grades 9th-12th and an 87% graduation rate.

Delta High School Athletics is famous for its prosperous history in wrestling.

The Snow goose Festival occurs every winter as the geese migrating through Delta stop at Gunnison Bend Reservoir.

Following the derby, there is a fireworks display sponsored by Delta City.
